Privacy Policy
RoleUp respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.
1. Information the App Collects
RoleUp may collect or store the following information to provide its features:
- Profile information you voluntarily enter, such as your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and LinkedIn URL, used to pre-fill job applications.
- Resume (PDF), if you choose to upload one, stored locally on your device and used only for the Easy Apply feature.
- Approximate location (city level), only when you grant permission, used to show jobs near you. Location is sent to the RoleUp API as part of a search request and is not stored against any personal identifier.
- Saved jobs and searches, stored locally on your device.
- Applied job IDs, stored locally on your device to track which roles you have applied to.
- Search queries, sent to the RoleUp API to retrieve job listings. Queries are not linked to a personal account.
- Device identifier, stored on our servers solely to deliver push notifications for job alerts you opt into. This is not linked to your personal identity.
2. How Your Information Is Used
Your information is used only to operate and improve the app experience, including to:
- search for and display real-time job listings from multiple sources,
- pre-fill application forms when using Easy Apply,
- save and display jobs you have bookmarked,
- track roles you have applied to,
- send push notifications for job alerts you opt into, and
- remember your appearance preferences (light, dark, or system theme).
3. Data Storage
All profile data, saved jobs, applied job IDs, and resume files are stored locally on your device using iOS system storage. The app does not require you to create an account.
When you use the Easy Apply feature, your name, email, phone number, LinkedIn URL, and resume are transmitted securely to the employer's applicant tracking system (such as Lever) to submit your application. This data is handled according to the employer's own privacy practices.
Search queries and approximate location are transmitted to the RoleUp API solely to retrieve job results and are not stored against any personal identifier.
Your device identifier is stored on our servers for the sole purpose of delivering push notifications and is removed when you disable notifications or uninstall the app.
4. Third-Party Services
Job listings are sourced from third-party job boards and applicant tracking systems (such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, SmartRecruiters, Reed, and Adzuna). When you tap "Apply Now" and are redirected to a company's website or ATS, that website's own privacy policy applies.
Company logos may be fetched from Clearbit's Logo API for companies not in the app's built-in logo set. Clearbit may log these requests in accordance with their own privacy practices.
5. Data Sharing
RoleUp does not sell your personal information. Your name, email, phone number, LinkedIn URL, and resume are only ever shared with a third party when you explicitly submit a job application using the Easy Apply feature, at which point they are sent directly to the employer's application system.
6. Your Choices
You can control your data at any time by:
- editing or clearing your profile information within the app,
- removing your uploaded resume within the app,
- unsaving bookmarked jobs within the app,
- disabling push notifications in iOS Settings, and
- deleting the app to remove all locally stored data from your device.
7. Children's Privacy
RoleUp is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this page with an updated effective date.
